Browsershots.org

Browsershots’ LogoWebsites don’t always look the same throughout competing web browsers. Usually web masters have multiple operating systems and web browsers installed on their computer in order to be able to test their creation. The process of checking a website in multiple platforms and browsers can be time consuming and tedious; a better way do exist.

Browsershots.org is a fairly unknown free web service to most people that allows web masters to view their website in different web browsers on Linux and Windows platforms. Currently the following platforms and browsers are supported:

Linux

  • BonEcho 2.0
  • Dillo 0.8
  • Epiphany 2.14
  • Epiphany 2.18
  • Firefox 1.5
  • Firefox 2.0
  • Galeon 2.0
  • GranParadiso 3.0
  • Kazehakase 0.4
  • Konqueror 3.5
  • Minefield 3.0
  • MSIE 5.0
  • MSIE 5.5
  • MSIE 6.0
  • Opera 9.21
  • Opera 9.22
  • SeaMonkey 1.1
  • SeaMonkey 2.0

Windows

  • Firefox 1.5
  • Firefox 2.0
  • MSIE 5.0
  • MSIE 5.5
  • MSIE 6.0
  • MSIE 7.0
  • Safari 3.0

How does Browsershots.org work?

The service is very simple to use. The user visits http://Browsershots.org and enter their website’s URL. Browsershots will then take screen-shots of the page using the selected web browsers. Within a few minutes the screen-shots are posted at http://browsershots.org/<http://Your-URL>/ for viewing.

So next time you are designing a site, remember to check out http://www.Browsershots.org in order to verify that your site still looks great on a variety of web browsers.
