Buy With Google Checkout

July 16th, 2006 | Joel | Web Services

Google Checkout is now available! Google checkout is a new and fast way to buy on-line. How does it work? Once you create an account with the Google Checkout service you will be able to start shopping on-line. The service acts as the middle-man between you and the seller which means you won’t have to fill out forms, worry about your credit card falling to the wrong hands, worry about spam (you can opt so that Google wont share your email address with the merchants), and you can track all orders and shipping via your Google account.

Apart from using Google Checkout for buying from 3ed party merchants, Google Checkout can also be used to buy items from Google services such as Google Video.

The current limitation of Google Checkout at the moment is the number of merchants and on-line stores that accept Google Check out although the popularity of Google Checkout should grow quickly in the coming months. Here is a small list of Google Checkout equipped merchants:

StarbucksStore       Jockey             RitzCamera
CSN Rugs               DayDeal          BestPrices.com
CSN Lighting           weaKnees       Golf Balls.com
BaggageForLess      TheFurniture   Best Buy Eye Glasses
Magazines.com        WolfCamera    CameraWorld          BoatersWorld      Football Fanatics  Select Blinds
uBid

The neat thing about the list above is that for using Google Checkout at these stores, Google will give you a $10 off coupon for purchases of $20 or more. Remember that the list above is no where near the total number of merchants and on-line stores that accept Google Check. To see a more complete list of Google Checkout equipped merchants click here. I also recommend you to view the demo video of Google Checkout.

Want to sell with Google Checkout? If you buy Google AdWords then you can sell items with Google Checkout for free at the exchange of every $1 spent on AdWords you can process $10 worth of sells with out being charged a fee. For example, if you spend $100 on Google’s AdWords service then you can sell $1,000 worth for free using Google Checkout. What if you spend $0 on AdWords, can you still use Google Checkout? Yes you can but you will be charged 2% of your sells plus an extra 20 cents for each transaction per month. Read more about selling with Google Checkout here.
