Google Makeing a Move on Microsoft Office?
Is Google looking to take over the office suite industry? It sure does look like it! Google has released a spread sheet web services that will allow its users to create a new spread sheet document or to import an existing CVS or XLS documents, as Google is currently calling the service, Google Spreadsheets. Google Spreadsheets is currently released to only a selected few since it still in heavy development.
Not too long ago, Google acquired Writely (read more about Writely) which is a web based word processor which can be used collaboratively with other users. Google Spreadsheets will also feature similar collaboration functions as Writely and many more interesting features. If you wish to be invited for beta testing you can sign up here.
So Google now has a web based word processor and web based spread sheets, now all that Google needs is a web based presentation service that competes with PowerPoint and Google will have it self a nifty little office suite.
