7up not so Natural
Not long ago, I saw an advertisement for the 7up soft drink on the television. The AD claimed that now 7up is produced with 100% Natural products. I thought it would be interesting to taste this new and improved natural soda.
Today I bought a bottle of 7up “Now 100% Natural” soda and was quite disappointed. On the back label the words CONTAINS NO JUICE is boldly printed. The back label also listed sugar as the second most used ingredient. I figured that I would buy the soda anyway and give it a taste test.
This is probably the last time I drink 7up. The overall taste did in fact improve over the original 7up but the carbonated water created an uncomfortable pressure in my stomach with excess burping.
Anyone else has tried this new line of 7up soft drinks? If so, let me know your thoughts on it.

Well I guess all ingredients are naturally, it only contains carbonated water, fructose corn syrup and Potassium Citrate. Potassium Citrate according to Yahoo Health “makes your urine less acidic” in fact, it “helps to reduce the formation of kidney stone.” Now that’s excellent; in my opinion, it’s not just a refreshing drink, but it improves your health. Off course, all good things have serious side effect, and you should talk to your doctor before starting a 7up diet. Some serious side effects are: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); abdominal pain; black bloody, or tarry stools; or blood in vomit; or muscle weakness or irregular heartbeats (may indicate high levels of potassium in the blood). (http://health.yahoo.com/drug/d01423a1) Hmm, I was wondering if “irregular heartbeat” could lead to heart attacks.

As a quick reply, I’ll just quote an article I found:
“In May 2006, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) threatened[1] to file a lawsuit against Cadbury Schweppes for labeling 7UP as “All Natural” despite containing high fructose corn syrup. While the FDA has no definition of “Natural”, CSPI claims that HFCS is not a “natural” ingredient due to the high level of processing required to produce it.” ( Wikipedia )
You can find the CSPI article here.
I will formulate a formal reply in the coming days.

Are you out of your MIND? You are objecting to a soda because it doesn’t contain fruit juice and does contain carbonation? That is just astonishing. What did you expect? I’m no expert, but I think exactly zero of the top 10 soft drinks in the US contain any fruit juice, and exactly 10 contain carbonation, BECAUSE THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A SOFT DRINK. Furthermore, you shouldn’t be upset that “all natural” does not mean “contains fruit juice,” because, my friend, there are many all natural products out there besides fruit juice.
I think 7up should be unconditionally applauded for removing artificial sweeteners and dyes. Anyone who cares about organic, natural, etc., should also applaud any move in this direction, even if it doesn’t mean transforming soda into juice.

I have also purchased 7up with a diappointing reaction. It seems like some of the can 7ups has a soapy taste to it. I have purchased 7up at 3 different locations and it seems that it’s pot luck. There were times when the taste is fine. But too often I keep picking a can that has this nasty soapy flavor. Are the people at 7up aware of that?
