Netflix Vs. Blockbuster Online
Recently, my friends have been looking into mail DVD rental and it has gotten me thinking, which service is better, Netflix or Blockbuster Online? Lets take a closer look at both companies.
The Collection
Blockbuster Online currently claims to having more then 50,000 titles for your choosing, that’s 5,000 less then what is claimed by Netflix. The collection is not only made up of movies but also documentaries, television programming, health and cooking, how tos, and sport which is very important.
Interface
Movie Category is important since it gives you a quick and easy way of browsing the collection for material in which you are interested in. Both services provides video categories but Blockbuster Online takes it a step further then Netflix. Blockbuster Online not only gives you a category but also many sub categories. Also, Blockbuster Online gives a more extensive category selection then Netflix making it easier and faster to find the film you want at Blockbuster Online.
Prices
Who do you think is cheaper, Blockbuster Online or Netflix? Well, their plans are almost identical but Blockbuster Online offers more for the buck.

2 DVDs at a time - unlimited - $14.99 + tax
2 DVDs at a time - 4 per month - $11.99 + tax
1 DVD at a time - unlimited - $9.99 + tax
Plan Per month Weekly store rental Price
3 DVDs at a time - unlimited - 1 free store rental per week - $17.99 + tax
2 DVDs at a time - unlimited - 1 free store rental per week - $14.99 + tax
1 DVD at a time - unlimited - 2 free store rental per week - $9.99 + tax
So if you were to take the Blockbuster Online plan, you would be able to order 3 DVDs at a time plus rent a movie from the Blockbuster store for free for the cost of $17.99 per month. That would be a total of 4 movies for $17.99 a month. Now imagine how much money you would save if you would take Blockbuster’s 1 DVD at a time deal. That is 1 DVD mail order plus 2 other DVDs from the store per week for online $9.99 per month. That’s 3 DVDs per week for $9.99 per month while Netflix gives you the same amount of DVDs for $17.99 per month. You save $8.00 a month for the same amount of DVDs.
In conlustion, clearly Blockbuster Online is a much better service over Netflix for its greater website features and bigger bang for the buck.
